We did not have a fall retreat. So we have decided to have a mini one of our own. Susan graciously opened her house up to the 4 original "Las Vegas Fabric Whores." I know of many others. We packed our machines, supplies, projects and loads of fabric and set up at Susan's. Then we went on a field trip to the Christmas Goose fabric store (you can't have enough). After making our purchases and stopping for sandwiches we were able to start sewing around 4:00. We stayed until we were to sleepy to sew straight and each went home to our own bed. I vowed to be back by 5 a.m. but somehow didn't make it till after 9 and was the last one to get back.
Susan being the most organized and trying to pass Kendall as the fastest in the west, finished several projects. Mostly she added the binding to complete the 4 or 5 quilts then she did some quilting on holiday projects. She finishes all her quilts and does a lot of donation quilts. She is amazing!
Vickie started her topper for a donation to the spring retreat. We are all hoping to win it! Although, if she were really a good friend she would make each of us one. She almost finished the top of it during our weekend. She did take some time out to go see her son compete and win. Go Nate! There was another fabric store near the competition location for her to support. Its always nice when you can support your family and your habit on the same trip.
Bernice was diligently working on the quilts for her grandchildren. They will be eye-spying them for a long time when she finishes. Her work is always so beautiful and precise. She was a bit preoccupied. She has a plan to lose her cell phone the next time we have an in town retreat. Sometimes it is better to not be found.
I couldn't decide what unfinished project to complete so I decided to start a new one. The others are to old and boring now. Oh, I hope no one ever says that about me. I did piece the top of most of a quilt. I just need to add the borders. I had planned to leave and do driving for my teenager and then he found ride. I love driving him and his friends but do appreciate when I can sew uninterrupted. It was a lovely weekend. Wish it could have been longer. It is always nice to enjoy the company of good friends, laugh, and sew.
